Sri Sathya Sai Global Council Newsletter, Volume One, October…

On this holy and auspicious occasion of the Avatar Declaration Day, the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council (SSSGC) offers the first volume of the Prasanthi Global News at the Divine Lotus feet of our lord, Sri Sathya Sai Baba. There are two aspects of Bhagavan’s avatarhood that standout amongst so many others. The first is His beautiful, enchanting, and powerful form that we love and adore and the second is the priceless, timeless, and all-encompassing message of love and truth that guides our sojourn on earth.

This gift from Prasanthi Nilayam, wrapped with love, carries with it the message of Swami and brings to us the acts of love and service from across the world. It reminds us of the blessings and opportunities to share love, spread peace and sanctify our lives.

In His Divine Discourse on the 25th of December 1998, Bhagavan said that it is the prime responsibility of every man to propagate the principles of love, truth and peace with everyone by experiencing it and sharing it with others. Hanuman, Bhagavan says was one such example. When Hanuman was ordered to discover the whereabouts of Mother Sita, he obeyed implicitly without question and succeeded. He did not hesitate; he did not feel proud that he was chosen for the high adventure. He listened, he understood, he obeyed, and he won and earned the title of Raamdoota.

In sharing the Prasanthi Global News, we pray that Swami guides us all to earn the title of Sai-dootas experiencing and sharing the message of love and service. We also pray that this newsletter motivates and inspires all to enrich their lives by following the Divine Dictum of ‘Love All Serve All”.

Sai Ram and Greetings from Prasanthi Nilayam!

ECHO machines have undergone numerous upgrades over the years, thus facilitating the use of more complex but easy-to-use software and interfaces (“lesser knobs and higher definition”) to guide therapies. All-in-all, ECHO has now proven itself to be a “one-stop-shop” for decision making in heart diseases and allied health care issues.

Speaking on the occasion, the staff of Swami’s hospital conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to Bhagawan and made the following statement(s):
“Thanks to Swami’s Grace and Compassion along with immense support of the Central Trust, we at Sri Sathya Sai Institutes have been using the standard-of-care ECHO machines for more than 2 decades with continuous improvements and machine upgrades as per the need of the situation and times.

Echo10

With the addition of the E95 ULTRA, Vivid T8 Pro machines and the upgraded CARDIOSOFT VERSION 7.0 TMT machine along with new Medical grade to original GE Treadmill, we strive to follow Swami’s command of building a healthy nation and continue to provide the best healthcare to our patients.

The addition of these three equipment will certainly help in better decision-making and treatment. Bhagawan Baba had always taught us that Technology has potential only if it is taken out of the ‘Ivory Towers’ and ‘is brought to the Bedside’ to help the ailing and needy, especially for a strata of patients for whom these facilities are not accessible due to financial constraints.

With the proverbial ‘shot in the arm’ that has been provided by the addition of our TRINITY of new equipment, we believe the Central Trust has helped us take a huge stride in that direction.”

Sri Sathya Sai District formation by State Government of Andhra Pradesh.

On this historic day, as India celebrates 73rd Republic Day, the State Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced the formation of the Sri Sathya Sai District.
The re-organised political map of Andhra Pradesh has 26 districts in all and Puttaparthi becomes the Headquarters of the newly formed Sri Sathya Sai District.

The geographical size of this district is 7,771 kms and it comprises a population of 17.22 lakhs (1.72 million).

It will also have three revenue divisions: Puttaparthi, Penukonda and Kadiri, supported by 29 Revenue Mandals (13 in Penukonda, 8 in Kadiri and 8 in Puttaparthi).

The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust expresses its gratitude to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for this thoughtful gesture.

Seven decades ago, Puttaparthi was called as a place which was “stone’s throw away from stone age”.

Today every stone of Puttaparthi exudes the Pure Love that Bhagawan poured into it for decades together and as a result it shines as a stellar inspiration for selfless service and universal love for the whole world.

For the Sai devotees, this indeed is a heartening moment as we begin the 97th year of His Holy Advent.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba had graciously gifted the Nursing College on 1st Sep 2008. In the last 13 years, 330 highly skilled nurses have passed out of the college till date. 469 students have been enrolled in the nursing college so far. Till now the Nursing College has been functioning within the building of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences. Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust has taken a decision to provide a separate building for the Nursing College and the same was announced on 23rd November 2021 during the Bhagawan’s birthday celebrations. Today the 13th December 2021, saw the Bhoomi pooja for the Nursing College building being performed. Sri Rathnakar RJ, Managing Trustee, SSSCT Sri Naganand, Trustee, SSSCT, Dr. Shekhar Rao, Director, SSSIHMS, Whitefield, Sri Nagesh Dhakappa, ex state president Sri Sathya Sai Organization, Sri Sundar, Swaminathan, Director, Sri Sathya Sai Media Center; Sri Manohar Shetty, Advisor, Sri Vinay Kumar, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Trust, Karnataka were present for the pooja along with staff and students of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences. The Pooja started at 9:05 AM at the muhurta time with Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba varu. Divine Message Outlining the purpose of Nursing College “Swami willed that there should be a sufficient number of trained nursing personnel and therefore training facilities for nursing personnel will be established. It is easy for doctors to perform operations. The real difficulty is in taking care of the patients after the operations. It is easy to slice vegetables. But, to prepare a tasty dish out of that is very difficult. This task of “cooking” is done by the nurses. If there is no good nursing, even the operation may be a failure. Therefore in order to train a good group of nursing personnel, training facilities are being provided. All those who are pure-hearted and filled with a spirit of service, may approach the Director for undergoing training to serve in the hospital. They need not incur any expense. The entire training is free. Elsewhere, if people want to undergo such training, they have to pay all kinds of fees. Here nothing will be. charged. Everything will be provided free. Only, we want persons with pure hearts to join the course. Today we have quite a large number of people working in our hospital. But, there is more work to be done because of the ever-growing number of patients seeking relief. Hence, we need many more nursing personnel. We are asking for nurses not for Swami’s sake but for the sake of the nation.” – Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Poornachandra Auditorium, Guru Pournima message, 14 Jul 1992 #NursingCollege #Service #SSSIHMS

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s birthday celebrations are joyous occasions for devotees all over the world. Thousands of devotees assemble in Prasanthi Nilayam to bask in the grand celebrations. It is a tradition that Prasanthi Nilayam administration makes the arrangement to serve free Anna Prasadam to all devotees coming for Birthday celebrations.

Due to the Covid restrictions, in consideration of the safety of the devotees, the Birthday celebrations in Prasanthi Nilayam are planned at a low key. The food courts which used to serve delicious food as prasadam in Prasanthi Nilayam are not functioning this time, as Covid does not allow crowding. But the penchant to serve is very high. In order to keep everybody safe, it has been decided to reach prasadam to 199 villages spread over 17 mandals of the Anantapuram District of Andhra Pradesh, serving over 1,00,000 meals on Swami’s 95th Birthday celebrations.

This initiative is being taken up by Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, along with Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. To all the selected villages, groceries offered by devotees from Karnataka were flagged off this morning from Prasanthi Nilayam by Sri R J Rathnakar, Managing Trustee, SSSCT.

On the morning of 23rd November, 2020, in all the selected villages of Ananthapuram District, the 95th Birthday of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Varu will be celebrated by the devotees with total dedication and devotion, in a modest way. ‘Anna Prasadam’ will be prepared in their respective villages by the Anantapuram district Sevadal and will be distributed to devotees.

Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust Comes to the Rescue

A middle-aged police constable from Anantapur was posted to work in the quarantine centre which is just opposite the Super Speciality Hospital.

As he went to report for his work after his breakfast, he felt tremors and palpitations in his chest. A colleague immediately took him to Swami’s hospital, which was just few metres away.

Even though it is a period of lockdown everywhere, the emergency department of the hospital is ever alert. He was quickly examined by the cardiac doctors who suspected some malfunctioning of his heart.

Dr Iyer, the Head of Department of Cardiology, decided to immediately operate on him. “One of his vessels was damaged, we put a stent and by God’s grace averted a major heart attack which could have endangered his life. It all happened in half an hour,” he says, and asserts,

“To me it is purely Divine grace. To be present just in front of the hospital when his discomfort started, to be checked in record time and operated in less than 2 hours, especially in these times when there is absolute no movement of people and vehicles, is nothing but Divine grace. We are grateful to Bhagawan for these opportunities to serve those who are risking their lives to help others day in and day out.”

Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust Steps Up During The…

“I will be happy with any kind of service you render. Spend your money to help the needy. Assist in the provision of water. Meet the educational needs of the people and provide medical relief. Do everything for the good of society and not for the sake of an individual. Have the nation’s welfare in your mind.”

– Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, November 23, 1995

Be it the Gujarat earthquake in 2002 or the Tsunami debacle in 2004 or the Odisha cyclone in 2008, Bhagawan always reached out to the distressed and forlorn, Sai workers went to villages and settlements where no one had visited and gave them a new life.

Even to this day, the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust continues this mission with that same passionate zeal to heal the sick and needy.

Today as the world is grappling with the trauma caused by a medical emergency, the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust is again in action to help the nation.

On March 31, 2020, Mr R J Ratnakar, the Managing Trustee of the Trust, announced that “the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust would be donating all the medical supplies required for the 14 quarantine centres set up in the district of Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Each quarantine centre now has 100 beds. We will be spending Rs 1.8 crore (18 million) for this noble cause.”

Assuring the Collector of Anantapur District, Mr Gandham Chandrudu all help in these difficult times, he added, “the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust is committed to alleviating the suffering of the people in this district to begin with.”

In fact, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust has been working hand-in-hand with the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations present in every state of India to come to the rescue of the distressed.

For example, in Kerala when the Sai Organisation came to know that the government needs 25000 masks in every district of this state, the Sai volunteers swung into action after getting approval from the government about the right quality of cloth. They also set up “hand-washing centres” for the auto rickshaw drivers, vendors and workers.

Similarly, Andhra Pradesh offered one lakh masks to the government prepared by Sai women volunteers working from their homes. A lakh or more masks are now being prepared by Sai devotees in Telangana, Tamil Nadu and so on.

In fact on March 30, 2020, the Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi was in a video conference with Mr R J Ratnakar as well as Mr Nimish Pandya, the President of All India President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, and Mr Modi was informed of all the initiatives being taken by the Sai Organisations and how many more medical and social outreach programmes are being planned.

One moving story unfolded on the morning of April 1, 2020 in Puttaparthi.

A middle-aged police constable from Anantapur was posted to work in the government quarantine centre in Puttaparthi which is located right opposite the Super Speciality Hospital.

“When you work selflessly for society, God will take care of your safety and security” has been the assurance of Bhagawan time and again, and we see that in action wherever good work is done as an offering to the Divine.

Even as masks are been prepared, and the poor and neglected in slums and desolate areas are being given food, medicines and clothes, Prasanthi Nilayam ashram continues its daily prayers non-stop inspiring Sai devotees world over to pour their heart out in praying for the affected no matter where they are.

That is how hundreds and thousands of devotees at appointed times are doing Gayatri Mantra chanting, bhajans, sacred book reading and so on, from their homes, so that we raise the positive energy of this planet to such an extent that the negativity surrounding it is subdued and terminated, giving rise to a new morning of hope, health and happiness.

Sri Sathya Sai lives on…, the mission of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust marches on!

Reinstallation of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Idol

sai-baba-idol-13

Reinstallation of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Idol | Prasanthi Nilayam Bhajan Hall | 5th March, 2020

When this statue arrived to Prasanthi in the summer of 2002, it was placed in the Poorna Chandra Auditorium. Swami was in Brindavan then.

When Bhagawan returned after a few days, He went straight to the Poorna Chandra Auditorium to see this masterpiece.

He asked the boys serving Him, “How is the statue?”

They kept silent.

Bhagawan asked again.

The boys did not say a word.

They did not know how to tell Swami that they were not comfortable with a statue when their beloved Bhagawan was with them in flesh and blood.

Sensing the discomfort in their hearts, the all-knowing Bhagawan, said, ”Now this body is there, what happens when the body goes? What will you do then?”

The students said, “Swami, we have You now. Why do we need this statue now? We cannot and do not want to think of a future without You.”

Swami then looked deep into the eyes of these boys and said:

“Just like I chose when to come, I can also choose when to go. You might think I am here for 96 years but nothing stops Me from going whenever I want. You have to look beyond the body. Don’t be carried away by My physical form. Look at the Real Swami. Think of the Real Swami!”

In fact this statue was installed by Bhagawan Himself in the Sai Kulwant Hall in 2002 and later moved inside to the Bhajan Hall.

On this occasion, as the statue was being reinstalled in the sanctum sanctorum of Prasanthi Nilayam, Bhagawan had indeed materialised a sacred yantra and Himself placed it below the statue.

This Divinely Super Charged holy abode today goes back to how Bhagawan had Himself recreated it about two decades ago.

Every little aspect of His Divine Masterplan has been meticulously planned by Him. Who can understand the mysteries of the One who is Timeless!
